G’day! Today we are using sharpie to doodle all over our new twitguy from the land down under, @djsteen. And, by the way Derek, did you really get Justine to impersonate you and marry you? HIRO Nakamura would be proud! Seriously.
My boss says I’m supposed to make a neat little story out of these interviews, but today - for a change - I’m just going to post the raw reply. I hope I don’t get fired.
What do you usually twitter about?
Well, seeing as Twitter is a micro-blog, I use it as such. I don’t use it to instant message (IM) friends and strangers back and forth. That is what Adium is for. I digress.
I keep my followers updated on when I’m streaming my lifecast as well as happenings throughout my day. I could be doing anything from flying a kite to eating some delicious cake to discovering a new geek obsession.
I aim to make every tweet giddy because the world needs more giddyness (yes, I spell it with a ‘y’)!
What do you find attractive in other tweeple?
I love finding tweeple that don’t @reply or RT too often, but bring their own unique perspective to my Twitter feed. Also, I follow people such as @garyvee (whom totally fits the giddy theme) or others who usually have outright hilarious tweets (such as @dielaughing and @hotdogsladies). Again, Be Giddy™.
Does twitter have some sort of effect on your daily life?
Now that I’m traveling thoughout the United States I get Twitter updates from a select few to my phone as texts. (In Australia we can only text to Twitter; not receive.) When I’m at my computer I just use Tweetdeck. Having groups set up is nice, so I can stay updated on searches for friends or work (Viddler.com). Twitter is my news source. I find everything I need to know on it; I don’t watch the news, read newspapers, or subscribe to blogs.
What do followers expect to get from your tweets?
Heh. Seven of my followers received Johnny Cupcakes gloves for Christmas in 2008. That was just because I was so giddy! I mean, I’m always giddy, and people notice. Don’t expect me to give away stuff all the time, but do expect to feel giddy because I’m so positive and it’s shown through my tweets.
